“Come to Jesus” was initially written as a hymn with five stanzas. Although beautifully poetic, its language felt a bit inaccessible in our current time. When we gathered to write this, we wanted to get the idea of Peterson’s The Message paraphrase of Matthew 11:28-30 across — these “unforced rhythms of grace” found in Christ. With all of our burdens, hurting, grief, and despair, His grace isn’t something we must beg for. He is the author of healing, comfort, and help, and He wants us to come to Him just as we are. He takes the heaviness and carries it for us. He holds it. He holds us.
